I will review what has been learned about the formation of globular clusters through studies of young massive clusters. While GC formation (at high-z) may have been fundamentally different than massive cluster formation happening today, most/all theories of GC formation do not invoke any special physics (i.e. conditions only present in the early Universe), hence they are directly testable with YMCs.
