The East Asian Observatory (EAO) now operates the
James Clerk Maxwell Submillimetre Telescope (JCMT) and also provides
engineering and IT support for the UKIRT Observatory, both of which are
located near the summit of Maunakea on the Big Island of Hawaii. On Thursday
6th, at 6pm come to Room 312 and hear about the latest science from the JCMT.
The EAO (East Asian Observatory) was formed by EACOA (East Asian Core
Observatories Association) to build and operate astronomical facilities which
will enhance and leverage existing and planned regional facilities. The JCMT
is their first such endeavor.
