The James Webb Space Telescope is the world’s next great space
observatory. From its origami-like stowage into the world's largest reliable
rocket, over twenty deployments will be done in space to expand Webb into its
mansion-sized operational science configuration, where it will then help
astronomers advance their exploration of deep space and provide us all more
of those awe-inspiring images we've seen from Hubble.
Using open-source electronics, modern robotics software, CNC machining,
3D printing, tiny deployment mechanisms and painstaking care we've developed
and refined through a series of prototypes our small deployable models of
Webb. We're now embarking on making and distributing large quantities of
these deployable models for the benefit of students, educators and the
public, rather than for profit, so that more people can get better insights
into how NASA and ESA engineers make huge Transformer-like machines like Webb
actually happen in order to advance space science and understanding of our
Come learn about Webb, and see how it will unfold in space, first-hand!
